What a fantastic start to the Rotary year we've had, so far! Seeing our members show up for meetings, participate in service projects and relax at our socials has been incredibly heartwarming and impactful. At our last in-person meeting (which happens on the third Tuesday at 5:30PM at Tarantula Hill Brewery) I asked our members who had worked a full day before coming to this meeting, and everyone raised their hand. It was a great grounding moment for us, looking around and seeing that we are all choosing to spend our time here, together, working towards a common goal.
This year's theme is "Rooted in Purpose". It gets to the root of our club, and how everything we do serves a purpose. My favorite question to ask is "Why?" and I invite everyone reading this message to take some time to be mindful and intentional with their precious free time.
Our August theme was "Tending the Saplings" with a focus on the youth.
We volunteered at James Storehouse's Back to School Bash, which provides support for foster youth and the families that open their hearts and homes to them.
We also held our first Poker Tournament of the year, dealt by our Fundraising Chair, Bryan. At the same time, those who weren't figuring out the difference between a full house and a flush were lounging by the pool listening to music and catching up on the latest romance novels we've read.
We also poured beers at Wings Over Camarillo, a sprawling event held at the Camarillo Airport where many a youth was inspired by the amazing array of aircrafts and automobiles.
We go into September with an eye cast towards our annual fundraiser Crawl-O-Ween, happening on October 25th in Downtown Ventura (save the date!) with tickets going on sale on September 4th! Please keep an eye on our social media for the link to purchase your tickets.
Tuesday September 15th, 5:30–7:00 PM: Next Gen Networking Event, in place of our usual in-person meeting. No formal program, just food, conversation, and an easy way to bring someone who's never seen what our club actually does
Tickets for Crawl-O-Ween are live — grab yours before Downtown Ventura sells out on us. Venues this year: KJ's Neighborhood, Victorian Tavern, The Saloon, Rocks & Drams, and The Livery @ Rumfish y Vino
Our next in-person meeting is Tuesday, October 20th, 5:30 PM at Tarantula Hill Brewery, always on third Tuesday of the month.
